Department of Sociology, Social and Political Sciences Faculty, Sebelas Maret University. This research was conducted departing from some tradition still maintained and preserved. This research aimed to find out the community’s reason of maintaining bersih desa Tanjungsari (Tanjungsari village cleaning) tradition, participation form, constraint, and solution to bersih desa Tanjungsari. The theory used in this research was Max Weber’s social action. In this research, Dlimas Hamlet people’s participation is social action based on the action of attending the bersih desa Tanjungsari tradition. The method used in this research was descriptive one with case study approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling . Techniques of collecting data used were interview, documentation study and direct observation. Data validation was carried out using source triangulation. Technique of analyzing data used was an interactive model of analysis. The result shows that the reason behind Dlimas Hamlet people still maintained bersih desa Tanjungsari tradition was because there was still a belief in Ny Roro Tanjung as magic figure in Dlimas Hamlet, the people preserved culture, respected the ancestor and expressed their gratitude to Almighty God. The form of participation was given materially, physically and emotionally in planning, implementation and result utilization stages. The constraints in this bersih desa were different religion, modernization, committee compactness, and limited cost. Meanwhile, the solution coming from society included socialization of cultural preservation and briefing of bersih desa, discussion in forum and conducting save-loan.
